W4 PROJECT IDEAS EXPLODED

After settled down in this brand new environment I started to think about what areas I should pursue as my final year project. I study industrial design at my home university the courses mainly include interaction design and product design. I am in Social Digital course in the University of Dundee. They divided interaction design and product design into two separated majors. I decided to focus on a product-based project.

There is no range of the project we will choose, which is a hugely different from my home university, where we usually get a limited range to choose the project from it.

So after weeks of thinking and looking through the ideas I had before along my study, I found over 30 problems I am interested. Personally, I am attracted by designs that solve actual problems. After discussed with my tutor Chris and Andrea we choose three projects.

1. Design a school bag for the primary level and middle school students that can reduce their carrying weight. As I am grown up, it's always been a huge problem for myself and my peers. In China, young children have to carry heavy textbooks through their homes and school every day. Personal I used to carry 8kg school bag travel over one hour in the tube every day. It can cause back and vertebra cervical problem to young children.

2. Design a set of portable travel outfit. I saw a cup design in Taiwan. It is made of heatproof plastic, and it can fold in flat as a card size. With a good design, travel necessities can fold into minyanim space. It can save lot's of packaging space and get a beautiful and neat look, may also reduce the weight, providing a better travel experience.

3. Design a cheap and easy to master musical instrument for improvised children who cannot afford to buy one.

After think through I decided to focus on the third one.
