New semester began, I'll turn my attention from research people to design my project. After struggling in the last semester, I became confident to make the judgement on my design decisions.

This week I learned the major size and shapes and the tins on the market. Summed the method of connection between the neck to the body that shown in numerous DIY videos. Brined stormed the connection point. And I studied various kind of guitar-like musical instruments including Chinese traditional instruments. I met my supervisor Polly Duplock and got my feedback from last semester.

  • Design requirements

I made several design elements to myself. I aim to provide quality user experiment. So the connecting point should be smart, simple, adjustable, easy to use and mechanic free. That is my biggest challenging in my design.

  • Plan my Agenda

I planned to come up wit the structure first then to the details like the sounds. I'll concentrate on the connect point first as this is the main design part of my project. Then I'll look into the tuning parts and frets.

  • Supervisor

I met my supervisor Polly Duplock for the first time this week. I introduced the progress I've made and my plans. We discussed:

1.The background of my project and why I chose string instruments. 2.The difficulties of the programme like the combination of the neck to various shapes of tins and usability. 3.My next plan is trying to find a way can combine the neck with different tins.

Her Recommendations:

1.Test tins in different shapes and size to learn how they’ll sound. 2.Trying to find a way can combine the neck with different tins and made a prototype. Ask technicians for advice on material and other stuff.

We agreed I'll:

1.Test tins in different shapes and size to learn how they’ll sound. 2.Try to make a function prototype to explore the combination. 3.Design the structure as well as explore the sound.
