This week I talked to my tutor, started to organize what I've learned this semester and prepare for the presentation next week. I also went to a pub Jim told me that many musicians in Dundee will gather there weekly to communicate and perform to see if I can get any help. I'm getting clear on my concept.

the night I went to the meeting point of Dundee musicians

  • Tutorial

1. As I have talked to my target users, I can learn them more through learning the environment they in. The data of their life will help me to picture their life. 2. Don't trap myself in user research; I can design first then test it to verify my design location. 3. Try mood board

It opened my mind. I do stay in attempting to talk to my users for too long. Learning the social environment they are in is inspiring. So I started to find relevant data, mainly from government websites like National Bureau of Statistics of the people's Republic of China. I found the latest China Statistic Yearbook. It concluded sufficiently detailed data about people's life.

  • Getting clear

I decided to start to focus on the design part. As I've determined to build cheap half-made guitar-like musical instruments, I began to study the making of instruments online.

I aim to make a half-made musical instrument, the best it to let them reuse things around their home. It can reduce the cost of producing and transportation.

There are plenty of videos show you how to make a guitar by yourselves. I ruled out the electronic one due to the realistic situation. I found all these guitars need machine work like punching holes in metal.

So it's getting clear that I want to make a half-made musical instrument that some part of it can be materials they can found nearby their home. And it must not involve machine work when they assemble it so they can do it themselves. There is a blank market here no product on the market meets these need.
